These days children spend more and more time using the Internet or playing video games and less time with physical activities and creative work. What do you think is the best way to improve this situation?
Today using the internet and smartphones as well as playing video games have become the norm for children. I believe, however, children should spend more time with physical activities and creative work because it is vital for children to grow up physically and mentally sound. The most important thing is that society, school, and family should participate in this cooperatively without pressing the responsibility only on parents. This is one significant way society can help and support children because everyone should take this important role.
Firstly, there are various members in the community who have different jobs and support child’s development, such as other parents, volunteers, PTA members, sports coaches, and even school counselors. These members of the community can play important roles because their knowledge, experience, and wisdom contribute positively to their future. People can enjoy sharing these experiences with different generations. This will help maintain more harmony in the community to support children and their future, which will require community cooperation and important projects. In order to support these needed activities for children, we need to develop facilities for such activities. This is important because sometimes neighbors oppose the construction of nursery schools due to the noise problems. The voice of children might be nothing more than noise for residents. After becoming familiar with children, noise may change into the chatter of happy children for them. That is why they can recall children’s faces.
Secondly, now sports club activities at some schools are less popular than before. In the current system, each sports club has a designated teacher in charge of the club in Japan, whether the teachers specialize or not, and in many cases they don’t. Nor do they have much interest in coaching that sport, which reflects on the club’s members’ enthusiasm, The only exception this is very competitive schools such as boys' baseball club. If members of the community, who have a lot of experiences and understanding of a certain sport, can participate either on a volunteer or on a part-time basis, they can work together to boost their enthusiasm of the club members and also encourage more participation in the sports. These volunteers and outside participants are more effective than teachers at coaching these sports. It might lead to understanding their options when they select their specialized sports in the future. The assistance of these outside participants can benefit because it can lessen teachers’ work.
Finally, now there are a low number of facilities for outdoor activities in nature that families can enjoy easily. Communities should increase widely and attractively different types of facilities of outdoor activities. In my opinion, if children can enjoy a nice view from high areas such as mountains, it attracts children. Furthermore, it is a good idea for children to experience possible occupational responsibilities in mountains, fields, farms, and seas. They can help in a farm, taking care of animals, and learn how daily foods are produced by communicating with their parents. They would have a good opportunity to learn from these observations and agricultural activities.
In conclusion, the highest priority should be for children to thrive in the communities with high energy. Children are bearers of this country’s future. People should create a better environment and suggest options for them.
